Yurgovuchia was named by Senter et al. (2012) [urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:110C8550-8718-4​0C6-8AA8-8A534A33535B]. Its type is Yurgovuchia doellingi.

It was assigned to Dromaeosaurinae by Senter et al. (2012); and to Dromaeosauridae by Senter et al. (2012) and Delcourt and Grillo (2014).
