Notochelone costata

Taxonomy
Notochelys costata was named by Owen (1882). Its type specimen is Sydney Museum specimen (cast in BMNH R77), a partial skeleton (imperfect shell with pectoral and limb bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Flinder's River, which is in a Cretaceous marine horizon in Australia. It is the type species of Notochelys.

It was recombined as Notochelone costata by Lydekker (1889) and Fordyce (1991).
