Allosauria was named by Paul (1988). It is not extant.

It was reranked as the unranked clade Allosauria by Carrano et al. (2012) and Chure and Loewen (2020).

It was assigned to Avetheropoda by Paul (1988); to Allosauroidea by Carrano et al. (2012); and to Allosaurioidea by Chure and Loewen (2020).
