Taxonomy
Orthonema frequens was named by Licharew (1968). Its type specimen is CGM StP 8336/369, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dastarsay Section, Beds 3-5, Karachatyr Range, which is in an Asselian shallow subtidal limestone in Kyrgyzstan.
