Taxonomy
Sinochelys applanata was named by Wiman (1930). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ningchiakou, Mengyin, which is in a Berriasian/Valanginian terrestrial sandstone/siltstone in the Mengyin Formation of China.
