V. B. Sukhanov and P. Narmandakh 2006 | Medium-sized turtles (up to 20 cm in the shell length) with a wide but somewhat elongated (oval) shell, consisting of distinctly thickened plates. The neurals are very narrow. The neural 1 is quadrangular. The rest neurals, except 7 and 8, are hexagonal short-sided anteriorly. The neural row is probably interrupted between the neurals 7 and 8 allowing contact of the costals 7 at the midline. The neural 7 is pentagonal with short anterolateral borders and pointed posteriorly. The neural 8 is also pentagonal but pointed anteriorly. The pygal is apparently long and trapezoid. The peripheral 2 is big, contacting the costal 1. The vertebral 1 is short and very wide, well wider than the nuchal and having a long contact with the marginal 2. The vertebrals 2 and 3 are very wide, reaching laterally ½ the length of the respective costals. The vertebrals 2 and 3 are distinctly longer than the vertebral 1. The vertebrals 4 and 5 are similar in width, but narrower than the vertebrals 2 and 3. The width and length of the pleurals are more or less the same. The marginals 12 extend on to the suprapygal 2. The anterior and posterior plastral lobes are relatively long and narrow. The anterior lobe is rounded distally, whereas the posterior one narrows caudally and bears a small anal notch. The bridges are slightly longer than in Annemys. The epiplastra are enlarged, their free border is rounded. The epi-hyoplastral suture and the long axis of the epiplastron are directed posterolaterally from the midline. The intergulars are big, completely separating the smaller subtriangular gulars from each other. |
