Columbella pulcherrima was named by Sowerby (1832). It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1986188, a shell.
It was recombined as Columbella (Strombina) pulcherrima by Tryon (1882); it was recombined as Strombina pulcherrima by Baker et al. (1938); it was recombined as Strombina (Strombina) pulcherrima by Keen (1971); it was recombined as Strombina (Lirastrombina) pulcherrima by Jung (1989).
