Blattina rarinervis was named by Göppert (1865). It is an impression. Its type locality is Ottendorf, which is in an Asselian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Otovice Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Proterema rarinervis by Handlirsch (1906) and Handlirsch (1920).
