Phyloblatta (Phyloblatta) xiangningensis was named by Hong (1980). It is an impression. Its type locality is Gancaoshan, Xiangning County, which is in a Sakmarian terrestrial shale in the Shanxi Formation of China.
It was recombined as Phyloblatta xiangingensis by Hong (1980); it was misspelled as Phyloblatta xiangingensis by Schneider (1983) and Hong (1985).
