Taxonomy
Spiriferina nelsonensis was named by Trechmann (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Heslington, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in New Zealand.

It was recombined as Psioidea nelsonensis by Dagys (1974).
