Terebratula (Propygope) was named by Bittner (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn J Toar Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538].

It was reranked as Propygope by Sepkoski (2002) and Williams et al. (2006).

It was assigned to Terebratula by Bittner (1890); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nucleatulinae by Williams et al. (2006).
