Taxonomy
Aphelaspis brachyphasis was named by Palmer (1962). Its type specimen is USNM 143168, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Steptoean Stage, Duck Creek, Nevada - Palmer 1999, which is in the Steptoean/Dolgellian of shale/limestone the Dunderberg Formation Nevada.
