Taxonomy
Columbella fusiformis was named by Hinds (1844) [TYPE SPECIMEN: Lectotype used for type specimen.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1966238/1, a shell.

It was replaced with Strombina fusinoidea by Dall (1916); it was recombined as Strombina fusiformis by Olsson (1942).
