Taxonomy
Strophalosia brittoni was named by Maxwell (1954). Its type specimen is UQ F15657, a valve (Ventral valve, internal mold), and it is a mold. Its type locality is 4 miles SW of Eungella Station, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Tiverton Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Echinalosia brittoni by Waterhouse (1986); it was recombined as Pseudostrophalosia brittoni by Briggs (1998).
