Capulus alatus was named by Laube (1869). Its type specimen is NHMW 1869/G88 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Orthonychia alata by Bandel (1992); it was recombined as Pseudorthonychia alata by Bandel and Frýda (1999).
