Taxonomy
Gibbochonetes poletaevi was named by Ayzenverg (1985). Its type specimen is TsNPmuzey 2114/1, a valve (ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mokraya Volnovakha River, Styla settlement (at dam), which is in a Chadian/Arundian marine horizon in Ukraine.
