Ctenoimbricata spinosa was named by Zamora et al. Yada yada.... ya da.]. Its type specimen is Zaragoza University Museum MPZ 2011/93 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Purujosa section 6. 2 km south of Purujosa village, Moncayo Natural Park, which is in a Menevian carbonate shale/carbonate in the Murero Formation of Spain.

S. Zamora et al. 2012Theca oval to rhomboid in shape with a single marginal ring of plates bearing spines. Ctenidium composed of a dorsal roof built with a proximal row of imbricate plates and tiny spinose distal plates, and a ventral part composed of 14 spinose elements, of which the four central-most represent projections of marginal plates M0 and M1. Dorsal surface weakly calcified with scattered stud-like ossicles.
