Serpularia centrifuga was named by Römer (1843). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Serpulospira.
It was recombined as Phanerotinus centrifugus by Clarke (1885) and Whidborne (1892); it was recombined as Serpulospira centrifugus by Cossmann (1915); it was recombined as Straparollus (Serpulospira) centrifuga by Knight et al. (1960) and Blodgett and Johnson (1992); it was recombined as Serpulospira centrifuga by Knight (1941), Bandel and Frýda (1998), Heidelberger (2001) and Wagner (2023).
