Camerophoria alpina was named by Schellwien (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Krone, bed 6, which is in a Gzhelian marine sandstone in the Auernig Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Stenoscisma alpinum by Cooper and Grant (1976).
