Taxonomy
Spiriferina fastigata was named by Schellwien (1900) [Spiriferina cristata var. fastigata]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Teufelsschlucht bei Neumarktl, which is in an Asselian carbonate limestone in the Dolzanova Soteska Formation of Slovenia.
It was recombined as Spiriferina octoplicata fastigata by Diener (1903); it was recombined as Spiriferina cristata fastigata by Diener (1915); it was recombined as Spiriferellina fastigata by Liao (1980); it was recombined as Punctospirifer fastigata by Shen et al. (2001).
