Taxonomy
Gastrioceras magoffinense was named by Work et al. (2012). Its type specimen is SUI 104362 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Martin roadcut, 1.5-1.9 m above base, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Four Corners Formation of Kentucky.
