Taxonomy
Phaneroceras chesnuti was named by Work et al. (2012). Its type specimen is SUI 104381 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Martin roadcut, 2.5-4.4 m above base, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Four Corners Formation of Kentucky.
