Taxonomy
Formica ceps was named by Zhang (1989). Its type specimen is 820020, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County, collection 3, which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.
