Xenastrapotherium kraglievichi
Taxonomy
Xenastrapotherium kraglievichi was named by Cabrera (1929) [Very similar to Xenastrapotherium christi but smaller. The external vertical depression in m2 and m3 is placed anteriorly to the division between the two roots. The lower molar line at crown level is 135 mm, at the alveoli level is 140 mm at alveoli level. Lower molar sizes: m1, 31 mm length 17.4 mm width; m2, 48 mm length , 19 mm width; m3, 51.8 length, 15.5 mm width ]. Its type specimen is MLP 112-96, a mandible (Left mandible with m1 to m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
S. Johnson 1984 | Differs from only known specimen of Xenastrapotherium christi in the form of P4, which, in X. kraglievichi is mesiodistally aligned and more trenchant than in X. christi, and by the more anterior location of the vertical external depression of the lower molars in X. kraglievichi. | |
S. E. Johnson and R. H. Madden 1997 | Xenastrapotherium kraglievich differs from X. christiin lacking or having only a very weak remnant of the hypoflexid depression possitioned opposite the paraflexid on m2 and m3 (in X. christi the weak m2 and m3 hypoflexid is possitioned opposite the metalophid) and having p4 implanted more in line with the molar row. Xenastrapotherium kraglievichi differs from X. aequatorialis in lacking trace of the posterior pillar and in having a much-reduced lower molar lingual cingulum. Xenastrapotherium kraglievichi differs from all other known species of the genus by having significantly smaller cheek teeth. |
