Taxonomy
Columbella dorsata was named by Sowerby (1832) [TYPE SPECIMEN: Lectotype chosen as type specimen]. It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 1966313/1, a shell.

It was recombined as Columbella (Strombina) dorsata by Tryon (1882); it was recombined as Strombina dorsata by Dall (1909); it was recombined as Sincola (Dorsina) dorsata by Jung (1989).
