Kloedcytherella was named by Kozur (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: P Djhu P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 648]. Its type is Kloedcytherella oertlii. It is the type genus of Kloedcytherellidae.
It was assigned to Kloedcytherellidae by Kozur (1985) and Crasquin-Soleau (1997); to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Knoxitidae by Chitnarin (2012).
