Chrysomela andraei was named by Giebel (1856). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Forthampton (Brodie collection), which is in a Rhaetian marine horizon in the Lilstock Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Chrysomelopsis andraei by Handlirsch (1906).
