Taxonomy
Gideonmantellia amosanjuanae was named by Ruiz-Omeñaca et al. (2012). Its type specimen is MPG-PBCH, a partial skeleton (a partially articulated skeleton housed in the Museo Paleontológico de Galve (MPG), which includes: nine dorsal, three sacral and twenty-one caudal vertebrae, f), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Poyales Barranco Hondo, PBCH (Galve syncline), which is in a Barremian deltaic mudstone/sandstone in the Camarillas Formation of Spain.
