Conularia torta was named by M'Coy (1847). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muree (W.B. Clarke coll), which is in a Wordian marine siliciclastic in the Muree Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Paraconularia torta by Weldon and Shi (2003).
