Trionyx uintaensis

Taxonomy
Trionyx uintaensis was named by Cope (1873). Its type specimen is ANSP 10189, a partial shell (nearly complete carapace and a considerable part of the plastron), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cottonwood Creek badlands (Bridger B), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.

It was recombined as Amyda uintaensis by Hay (1908) and Hay (1930); it was recombined as Rafetus (Axestemys) uintaensis by Chkhikvadze (2000); it was recombined as Oliveremys uintaensis by Vitek (2011).

  • Amyda nelsoni was named by Case (1927). Its type specimen is UMMP No. 8393, a partial skeleton (nearly complete shell and pelvis plus some vertebrae and foot and limb bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East of Granger, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Oliveremys uintaensis by Vitek (2011); it was synonymized subjectively with Trionyx uintaensis by Vitek and Joyce (2015).
  • Amyda franciscae was named by Hay (1908). Its type specimen is AMNH 5936, a partial skeleton (the complete carapace and plastron; the seventh and eighth cervical vertebrae; both scapulae and both coracoids; the pelvis, mostly hidden by the xiphiplastrals), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Oliveremys uintaensis by Vitek (2011); it was synonymized subjectively with Trionyx uintaensis by Vitek and Joyce (2015).
  • Aspidonectes tritor was named by Hay (1904). Its type specimen is AMNH 5913, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 3 miles above the mouth of Cottonwood Creek (middle third of Bridger beds), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial sandstone in Wyoming.

    It was recombined as Amyda tritor by Hay (1908) and Hay (1930); it was recombined as Rafetus (Axestemys) tritor by Chkhikvadze (2000); it was synonymized subjectively with Oliveremys uintaensis by Vitek (2011); it was synonymized subjectively with Trionyx uintaensis by Vitek and Joyce (2015).
