Taxonomy
Stichomys gracilis was named by Ameghino (1891). Its type specimen is MACN-A 4263, a mandible (left mandible with dp4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Protacaremys pulchellus by Ameghino (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Acarechimys minutus by Verzi et al. (2017); it was recombined as Acarechimys gracilis by Arnal et al. (2017).
