Streblotrypa browni was named by Etheridge (1907). Its type specimen is SAM P.2120C and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Port Keats bore, 555-574 ft, Bonaparte Gulf, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine shale in Australia.
