Hydrobiites veteranus
Taxonomy
Hydrobius veteranus was named by Heer (1852). Its type specimen is Pl XLI fig 73, an elytra (elytron), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Insektenmergel, Schambelen, Aargau, which is in an Angulata offshore claystone in the Insektenmergel Formation of Switzerland. It is the type species of Hydrobiites.
It was recombined as Hydrobiites veteranus by Heer (1864) and Handlirsch (1906).
