Trinacriinae was named by MacNeil (1937) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9231].

It was reranked as the tribe Trinacriini by Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Noetiidae by Vokes (1980), Dockery (1982), Matsubara et al. (2010) and Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Noetiinae by Carter et al. (2011).
