Limoida was named by Moore (1952). It is extant.

It was reranked as the unranked clade Limoidei by Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Pteriomorphia by Giribet and Wheeler (2002) and Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006); to Pteriomorphia by Coan et al. (2000), Todd (2001) and Scholz et al. (2008); and to Anomiidina by Carter et al. (2011).
