Microbiotherium acicula

Taxonomy
Prodidelphys acicula was named by Ameghino (1891). Its type specimen is MACN 5735, a mandible (a fragment of a right mandibular ramus with alveoli of i1-4 and m2, and c-m1 complete), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Observatorio, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.

It was recombined as Microbiotherium acicula by Marshall (1982) and Abello et al. (2012).

Synonyms
  • Prodidelphys pavita was named by Ameghino (1891). Its type specimen is MACN 5736, a mandible (a fragment of a left mandibular ramus with alveoli of i1-c and m1-3, and with p1-3 complete), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Observatorio, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Microbiotherium acicula by Marshall (1982).

Its type specimen is MACN 5737, a mandible (a fragment of a left mandibular ramus with alveoli of i1-p3, and c complete), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Observatorio, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Microbiotherium acicula by Marshall (1982).
