Taxonomy
Iniopteryx tedwhitei was named by Zangerl and Case (1973). Its type specimen is FMNH PF7241, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Hansen quarry, quarry 6, Wea Shale, which is in a Kasimovian marine shale in the Westerville Formation of Nebraska.
