Pecten (Aequipecten) jacobianus was named by Cooke (1919) [DISTRIBUTION: ?Oligocene-Miocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is USNM 167115, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Aequipecten jacobianus by Hendy et al. (2008); it was recombined as Interchlamys jacobiana by Waller (2011).
