Pecten uselmae was named by Pilsbry and Johnson (1917) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; circum-Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 11124, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Plagioctenium uselmae by Pilsbry and Johnston (1917) and Mongin (1968); it was recombined as Chlamys (Aequipecten) uselmae by Woodring (1924) and Woodring et al. (1924); it was recombined as Chlamys (Plagioctenium) uselmae by Woodring (1925); it was recombined as Argopecten uselmae by Franco (1983) and Waller (2011).
