Taxonomy
Gilliodus peyeri was named by Zangerl (1981). Its type specimen is FMNH PF2537, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Logan Quarry, unspecified level, Reserve Township, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Staunton Formation of indiana.
