Caseodus basalis

Taxonomy
Orodus basalis was named by Cope (1894). Its type specimen is FMNH UF 575, a partial skeleton (head and shoulder regions), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Court Creek, near Galesburg, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Linton Formation of Illinois.

It was recombined as Campodus basalis by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Caseodus basalis by Zangerl (1981).
