Pseudoparaparchites was named by Kellett (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: C Ms C Step Sepkoski's reference number: 773]. Its type is Pseudoparaparchites kansanensis. It is the type genus of Paraparchitacea, Paraparchitidae.
It was assigned to Paraparchitidae by Benson et al. (1961); and to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002).
