Taxonomy
Idiognathodus sulciferus was named by Gunnell (1933). It is not extant. Its type locality is 29th St. and Southwest Blvd, Galesburg shale, which is in a Kasimovian marine shale in the Galesburg Shale Formation of Missouri.
