Rhabdamminidae was named by Brady (1884). It is extant. It was considered unknown by Loeblich and Tappan (1987).

It was assigned to Astrorhizoidea by Loeblich and Tappan (1987); and to Astrorhizacea by Loeblich and Tappan (1988).
