Taxonomy
Rimirhynchopsis simplex was named by Jin et al. (1979). Its type specimen is NIGP 42814 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 5 km east of Guolunduo IXF587-2, Maqu, Jomda County, which is in a Triassic marine horizon in China.
