Aktassia was named by Popov (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde-l O Cara-l Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Aktassia triangularis.

It was replaced with Brachaktassia by Li et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Linnarssoniinae by Holmer (1989); to Acrotretidae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Acrotretida by Sepkoski (2002).
