Taxonomy
Dielasma hamiltonense was named by Smith (1927). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 4822, Hamilton Bay, Kupreanof Island, Alaska, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in Alaska.

It was recombined as Piarorhynchia hamiltonensis by Ager and Westermann (1963).
