Taxonomy
Kirkbya punctata was named by Kellett (1933). Its type specimen is USNM 85445 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nine Mile School, District No. 17, which is in a Kasimovian carbonate limestone in the Stanton Formation of Kansas.
