Orthotetes achengensis was named by Lee and Gu (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Acheng County, which is in a Wordian/Capitanian marine horizon in the Tumenling Formation of China.
It was recombined as Derbyia achengensis by Clapham (2015).
