Taxonomy
Notospirifer extensus was named by Campbell (1961). Its type specimen is UQ F21959 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Minerva Homestead, Springsure, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Cattle Creek Formation of Australia.
